Behold my Book!

Date: 1831

Format: Drawn in the back of a 1830-31 field notebook

Description: Lyell approaches Father Time and a figure representing Space, arrogantly assuming that they have any need for his theorizing.

The original cursive is hard to read, and the word "space" (to my reading) is uncertain.

For more on De la Beche vs Lyell, see this page.
For more on Lyell himself, see his entry on the biography page.
