Proposal for Geological Survey Seal II

Date: 1825

Format: Sketch

Description: Another proposal for a seal for the the Geological Society of London. In a letter to William Buckland, De le Beche described it as "a geologist examining the structure of the world." Buckland described it more evocatively as a "geological goblin", and liked it so much said he would make a personal seal made of it.

The word "Buckland" on the seal was not written by De la Beche.
