A Philosophical Lecture

Date: 1832

Format: Drawn on pages for editor's notes in a proof copy of De la Beche's A Geological Manual

Description: The exact meaning of the sketch is not clear. De la Beche smiles while colleagues sleep or look bored or grumpy. Perhaps he is smiling because he is drawing this sketch during a boring lecture? (Alright, probably not.)

"Philosophy" at that time referred to any sort of academic discipline.
