The Light of Science

Description: A woman holds a rock hammer in one hand, and in the other holds a lantern to light up the world. Bats and owls flit about in the darkness.

The character in The Light of Science is said by some to be Roderick Murchison's wife, but I haven't been able to determine the origin of the claim. The piece is the same design as De la Beche's proposed seal for the Geological Society.

The lantern says Portable Gas on it.
